Change in Ryegate Post Office Hours

The US Postal Service has mailed flyers to customers of the Ryegate Post Office notifying them of changes in operational hours effective January 10, 2015.  The Post Office will now be open for window service at 8:00 am to 2:30 pm Monday through Friday, and closed for lunch from 11:30 am to 12:00 pm.   Mail will be available daily for pick-up by 9:30 am Monday through Saturday with 24-hour access to the mail receptacles.



An Open House will be held at the Golden Valley County Courthouse in Ryegate in honor of Sheriff Floyd Fisher and County Commissioner David Paugh for their many years of service to our county. The public is invited to attend the event which will be held on Monday, December 22, 2014 from 1-4 pm, with cake and coffee being served.

Election Results Bring Change

2014 Election Results
The recent General Election brought about changes which will take effect the end of the year. Former Undersheriff Bob Pallas was elected as the new Sheriff for our county, replacing the current Sheriff, Floyd Fisher. John Lewis will replace County Commissioner David Paugh who did not run for re-election.


A benefit is planned for Saturday, September 6th from 3 -7 pm in the Ryegate Park for Jennifer Gantz, Samara and Silas. Sawyer Donovan Gantz, son of Jennifer Gantz of Ryegate was born July 28th at 26 weeks gestation with a hole in his heart. Tragically, Sawyer contracted an infection and passed away on August 12th at a hospital in Salt Lake City. The benefit is to help the family with the enormous medical costs incurred while trying to save little Sawyer.
A pig roast, barbequed hamburgers, hot dogs and more will be served at the all-you-can-eat meal. Costs will be $8.00 for a single, $12.00 for a couple and $20.00 for a family of 4 or more. Lemonade and popsicles will be available and there will also be a bake sale. In addition, there will be a Slave Auction and various donated items will also be auctioned including: a boat, table & chairs, blankets, sandblasted stones, a gift basket from Harlowton Coffee Shop, and many other items.

Northwestern Energy has notified Ryegate officials of a planned power outage on Wednesday, August 6th from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm while they upgrade equipment in one of their substations.


A survey was sent from the US Postal Service recently to members of the community of Ryegate asking for their opinion as to the operational hours and/or fate of the Post Office in Ryegate. An open meeting with Postal authorities has been set for 1:00 pm on August 1st at the Ryegate Post Office. Everyone is encouraged to attend and let their voices be heard as changes are coming our way…


“Anything and Everything International Harvester” will be at the International Harvester Tractor Show on July 19, 2014 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm which is sponsored by the Montana International Harvester Collectors Chapter 40. The event will be held at 501 Third Avenue East in Ryegate and admission is $2 single or $5 for a family. Concessions will be available with the proceeds going to the Ryegate Volunteer Firefighters and Ryegate Boy Scouts. Come on out and enjoy reminiscing about the times these machines were new and used daily by our farmers and ranchers. Let’s support these two great organizations in our community.
